The weekly review, and five other calendar habits for a calmer week.
15 October 2026 · 6 habits · by the Lifeable team
Most weeks don't go wrong on Wednesday. They go wrong on Sunday night, when nobody looked ahead. These six habits are about looking: once a week, once a month, once a morning. They take minutes and they're the reason the rest of the system keeps working.
1. The weekly review
Fifteen minutes on Sunday keeps the whole week calm.
Once a week, look back and look ahead: what got done, what slipped, what's coming. Clear the missed items, move what still matters, and glance at the week ahead. It is the habit that keeps every other system working.
- Open Schedule and clear what was missed
- Look at the next seven days
- Add anything coming that isn't there yet
A short look back makes a better week ahead.
2. See your month at a glance
Busy weeks are easier when you see them coming.
Bills, birthdays, trips and appointments rarely feel heavy one at a time. It is the week where five land together that hurts. Look at the month view once and spread things out before they pile up.
See it early, smooth it out.
3. Say no to protect your yes
A full calendar isn't a full life.
Every yes takes time from something else. Before accepting, look at your week: is there room? Saying no to the extra lets you say a real yes to what matters.
- Look at your week
- Find one commitment to decline or move
- Protect one evening for yourself
Room for what matters.
4. Clear the missed list
Old overdue items are quiet stress.
Overdue items you've stopped looking at still weigh on you. Go through them once: do it, give it a new date, or delete it. A clean list is lighter.
A clean slate feels good.
5. Start the day with a summary
Everything due today, in your inbox each morning.
A short morning email with today's tasks, bills and dates means you start the day informed without opening anything. Choose the hour that suits you.
Know your day before it starts.
6. Restart gently
A messy week doesn't need a perfect fresh start.
After a chaotic week, don't try to fix everything at once. Clear what's missed, pick three things for tomorrow, and start again. Systems are for coming back to.
Every day is a good day to restart.
